When a group of Statham friends, neighbors and community members informally came together a few years ago to form Statham Halloween, we did so with the primary goals of sharing the joy we feel for Halloween in Statham and giving back to the community.  As the popularity of Halloween night here has increased, so has our involvement.  We have held neighborhood clean-ups, cut grass and spectacularly decorated.  We have worked with the city of Statham in advocating for street closures and enlisting volunteers to ensure that visitors not only enjoy Halloween, but feel safe doing so.

As the price of candy has increased, so too has the financial obligation for participating homeowners – most spend hundreds of dollars. To off-set these costs and increase the number of houses giving out candy, we have designed and sold t-shirts since 2021.  We have donated funds from our Halloween night concession stand to the Statham Police Department for the “Shop with a Hero” Christmas program and volunteered with the Boo on Broad 5K.

And we want to do more! 

To that end, Statham Halloween legally incorporated as a Nonprofit Organization with the state of Georgia in March, 2024, and began the Federal application process shortly after. In August 2025, we were thrilled to receive notice that Statham Halloween Inc has been designated as a public charity with 501(c)(3) status by the United States Department of the Treasury.

Our Federal nonprofit, tax-exempt status will enable us to formally participate in fundraising and obtain donations and sponsors, allowing us to increase our contributions to community causes, primarily on behalf of children, both during the Halloween season, and beyond.

We have begun working with the city of Statham and the Statham Events Committee to bring more Halloween fun during the month of October and help transform Statham into Halloweentown, a labor of love that is beginning to garner state-wide recognition.
